Part of a 3-watch collection, the Modern Re-Interpretation honors the 1968 Dive watch, and reinvents it with an updated movement, and precision-like detail.
The GMT hand can be set independently in one-hour increments without interrupting the time-of-day hands and allows the wearer to see, at a glance, the time in a second time zone. Each new watch adds the GMT hand while incorporating 200 meters of water resistance, a highly legible Lumibrite-equipped dial, and a unidirectional bezel in scratch-resistant ceramic. And the automatic mechanical movement runs for three full days when fully wound.
Expressing the power of nature, the three-dimensional pressed pattern ice-blue dial suggests the majesty of polar glaciers, the extreme world in which Seiko diver’s watches proved their excellence, now imperiled by climate change. Framed by a Made-in-Japan blue-gray ceramic uni-directional rotating elapsed timing bezel with knurled edge for enhanced operability, the dial also features LumiBrite hands and markers, and a date calendar.
As part of Seiko’s “Save the Ocean” campaign, a portion of the proceeds from sales of this extraordinary Limited Edition will be contributed to marine conservation. Packaged in a Limited Edition collectors’ box, with a complementary fabric strap.
The watch has a stainless steel case with super-hard coating and appears on a new three-link stainless steel bracelet that has a slim profile that allows it to sit securely and comfortably on the wrist.
